At Moorview Referrals, you'll join a highly experienced multidisciplinary referral hospital serving patients across the North East. Our surgery department consists of six Advanced Practitioner surgeons, supported by a dedicated team of surgical nurses, including several certificate and diploma holders. Alongside our surgical service, we benefit from experienced teams in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Emergency & Critical Care, supported by an ultrasonographer, radiographer and residency-trained cardiologist. We provide referral services in soft tissue surgery, including laparoscopy and thoracoscopy, orthopaedics including total hip replacements, neurology/neurosurgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology and ECC.

How You'll Make a Difference
As a Referral Veterinary Surgeon, you will play a key role in delivering advanced surgical care within a busy referral setting, managing a varied caseload while working collaboratively within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and developing a referral surgical caseload
- Performing a broad range of soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures
- Working closely with colleagues across Surgery, Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology and ECC to deliver exceptional patient care
- Providing clear communication and support to referring veterinary surgeons and clients
- Contributing to clinical discussions, case planning and service development
- Supporting the ongoing growth and success of the surgical service
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
We're looking for an experienced surgeon who is passionate about delivering high-quality referral-level care and enjoys working within a collaborative hospital environment. You’ll bring:
- A Veterinary degree with RCVS registration
- Surgery Certificate Holder, Advanced Practitioner, Board-Eligible or Board-Certified status, or equivalent experience
- Experience performing a range of soft tissue procedures including TECAs, perineal hernia repairs and gastrointestinal surgery
- Experience in orthopaedic surgery, including cruciate disease management, basic fracture repair and lameness investigations
- A particular interest or bias towards soft tissue surgery would be advantageous
- Experience interpreting or utilising CT imaging would be beneficial, although not essential
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care
- A commitment to evidence-based medicine and continuous professional development

We are also open to discussing part‑time and flexible working arrangements.
