Overview

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Event Sales Director is responsible for driving commercial success across a varied events portfolio spanning B2B and B2C summits, consumer festivals and awards programmes.

This senior commercial role will oversee all event-related revenue generation, developing strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and ticketed sales opportunities that align with the values of this purpose-driven organisation. The successful candidate will be ambitious, results-driven, and highly connected with deep experience in securing and growing high-value event partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and convert new commercial opportunities through proactive outreach and relationship building with senior decision-makers across all industries
  • Develop and deliver multi-channel sales plans to drive B2B and B2C sponsorship
  • Work within a high-performing sales team to achieve clear KPIs and individual sales targets
  • Create compelling, insight-led event sales proposals that align with brand objectives and audience insights
  • Collaborate closely with Events, Marketing, Partnerships, and Editorial teams to ensure seamless delivery and exceptional partner experience
  • Accurately forecast and report on event revenue performance, pipeline development, and commercial trends
  • Represent the brand at industry events, networking forums, and internal gatherings to elevate brand visibility and generate new opportunities
  • Monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activity, and audience data to inform strategy and drive innovation across the events portfolio
  • Support the upskilling and development of colleagues by sharing sales best practices, market insights, and partnership expertise

Person Specification

Experience and Skills:

  • 10–12+ years’ experience in sponsorship and event sales, with a proven track record of exceeding commercial targets
  • Strong network of senior decision-makers across relevant sectors
  • Expertise in building multi-platform event partnerships, awards sponsorships, and delegate or ticketed revenue streams
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills
  • Deep understanding of the B2B and B2C events and media landscape, with an ability to identify and act on emerging trends
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and commercial reporting
  • Proficient in Canva, Salesforce (or similar CRM), Excel, and presentation tools
  • Confident and credible representative of the brand at senior level
