Job Purpose: As a Trustee Director specialising in technology, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing the ILF's digital and technology strategy. Your expertise will ensure the ILF leverages technology to maximise impact of our learning/recruitment/CRM systems, streamline operations, safeguard data, and drive innovation across all programmes and activities. As a leader with strong networks and influence, you will play a critical role in supporting the charity to achieve its growth agenda.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Governance and Strategy
    • Contribute to the overall governance of the ILF, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including those specific to digital and data protection.
    • Participate in developing and reviewing the ILF's vision and strategic plan, with a focus on digital transformation, IT infrastructure, and technology risk management.
    • Attend and actively contribute to board meetings, technology/digital committee meetings, and annual general meetings.
    • Ensure key risks are identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
    • Oversee the financial plans, measurement, and impact reporting of the charity, ensuring timely and effective submissions to the Charity Commission and Companies House.
    • Use influence of networks, resources and opportunities that help with the growth and impact of the charity.
  • Technology Leadership
    • Sponsor and input into the development and implementation of the ILF's technology and digital strategy, providing support.
    • Ensure technology supports the ILF's mission, operational efficiency, and future growth.
    • Keep abreast of and advise on technology trends, opportunities, and risks relevant to the Charity sector.
    • Provide oversight and advice into the adoption and integration of digital tools, platforms, and systems to maximise service delivery, stakeholder engagement, and internal processes.
    • Support building innovation and efficiency into programme delivery, fundraising, and partnership working through technology.
    • Guide the ILF in maintaining robust cybersecurity measures and compliance with data protection regulations, including implementation of best practices for data management, privacy, and information security.
    • Input to strategies for engaging with donors, beneficiaries, partners, and other stakeholders through digital channels.
    • Collaborate with fundraising and communications teams to develop and support digital campaigns and platforms.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Extensive experience in senior IT, digital, or technology leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful digital or technology strategies.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, data protection, and IT operations.
  • Understanding of the Charity sector and its unique digital challenges (desirable).
  • Previous experience as a Charity trustee or in a board-level role (desirable).
Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong commitment to the ILF's mission and values.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinking and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Integrity and high ethical standards.
  • Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to trustee duties.
Time Commitment:
  • Attend 4 X board meetings.
  • 1 Annual General Meeting per year.
  • Available for ad-hoc advice and consultation on general ILF, strategy, risk and safeguarding matters, i.e. ARAC meetings and sub-committee meetings.
  • Attendance at key ILF events i.e. Ride to Inspire, INSPIRE LIVE, the Inspiring Leadership Gala and other ceremonies/fundraisers where possible and applicable.
Remuneration:

This is a voluntary position. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in line with the ILF's policies.
