Animal Assisted Therapy Practitioner

Location: Broadbottom

Contract: Fixed-term, 6 months (with potential for extension)

Hours: 18 hours per week (set hours to be discussed)

Salary: £15 per hour

About the Role

This funded position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver animal‑assisted sessions as part of our outreach programmes. You’ll work directly with young people across a variety of settings, helping to support personal growth, wellbeing, and learning outcomes. Based at our beautiful centre in Broadbottom, you’ll also get to know and work hands‑on with our wonderful team of animals who are central to everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver animal‑assisted therapy and wellbeing sessions to young people in different settings.
  • Build meaningful connections with participants and partner organisations.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of outreach programmes.
  • Provide detailed reports and feedback to schools and referring settings, in line with individual student targets.
  • Support the care, handling, and understanding of our animal team.

About You

  • Experience working with young people in education, care, or therapeutic settings, including a qualification or specific training relevant to therapeutic work with children or adults.
  • A genuine passion for animals and confidence in working with them; ideally with experience in a related field.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive team.
  • Flexibility to work across different environments as required.
