Our client is looking for Meter Readers across Plymouth and Exeter. This is a fantastic role for someone self‑motivated to work independently, with the opportunity to acquire a company car. The ideal candidate will ensure customers receive accurate and up‑to‑date bills by collecting data from gas, electric and water meters using a handheld electronic device and other equipment. There is a great deal of flexibility within this role, such as planning your route and managing your schedule and workload to achieve the targets set for the week by your field delivery manager. There will be an occasional need to walk longer distances, as not all customers live in built‑up areas, but you’ll get great exercise!
Responsibilities
- Collect data from gas, electric and water meters using a handheld electronic device and other equipment to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date bills.
- Plan and manage your workload independently, scheduling routes to meet weekly targets set by the field delivery manager.
- Walk longer distances when required, as customers may not live in built‑up areas.
- Report any dangerous meter installations or suspected signs of tampering.
- Maintain a positive ambassadorial image of the company to customers.
Qualifications
- Approachable, presentable, and polite, acting as an ambassador for the company.
- Physically fit due to the nature of the role.
- Self‑motivated and energetic and enjoy working outdoors.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work to timescales and under pressure.
- Flexible approach to tasks and working.
- Friendly personality with a professional approach to work.
- Pass screening and vetting standards and a DBS check.
- Full training provided; experience is not necessary.
