Director of Business Operations

We are looking for a Director of Business Operations to join our successful Optimisation Team. This is a home based role with occasional travel to offices required.

Role and Responsibilities

The Director of Business Operations is responsible for translating Inspired Optimisation’s strategy, budget and commercial pipeline into a credible and executable operating plan. The role will provide forward visibility of revenue, margin, capacity and operational performance, while leading the transformation projects and change-management activity required to build a scalable business. Working closely with the Managing Director, CFO, Finance Business Partner and functional directors, the role will coordinate performance across Sales, Engineering, Project Delivery, Customer Success and Asset Management.

Key role boundaries

The Director of Business Operations will not directly own:

• Sales
• Design
• Project Delivery
• QA
• CDM
• Technical assurance
• Financial accounting or statutory control

The role will coordinate, challenge and integrate these functions to ensure the overall business plan is executable and delivered.

Key measures of success:

• Revenue and contribution EBITDA against plan.
• Forecast accuracy.
• Project and portfolio margin visibility.
• Order-book conversion.
• Working-capital and cash performance.
• Resource and capacity alignment.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

• Leadership experience in business operations, transformation or performance improvement;
• Experience within an engineering, energy, infrastructure or project-led business;
• Strong understanding of revenue, margin, contribution EBITDA, cash and working capital;
• Experience leading cross-functional change programmes;
• Strong analytical, planning and programme-management capability;
• Ability to challenge senior leaders while preserving their accountability;
• Ability to translate financial insight into operational action;
• Experience improving systems, processes, data and management information.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Essential: Demonstrable experience operating in a senior engineering leadership role within the energy, infrastructure, building services, renewables or energy solutions sector. Strong understanding of engineering governance, technical assurance and engineering risk management. Working knowledge of relevant UK engineering, health.
