The Role
- Maintaining and cultivating outdoor spaces, including grassed areas, flower beds, hedges, shrubs, and borders across the village grounds and residents’ personal outdoor areas.
- Carrying out landscaping duties, including maintaining pathways, steps, and drainage systems to ensure safe and accessible grounds.
- Clearing leaves and debris around the site using machinery and manual methods to keep outdoor areas clean and well-presented.
- Performing minor repairs and maintenance around the estate, including fences, gates, and garden structures.
- Assisting with guttering and gully clearance to support the upkeep of village infrastructure.
- Participating in statutory testing and routine inspections to maintain compliance and safety standards.
- Providing support and advice to residents on gardening or horticultural queries, helping them enjoy and engage with their outdoor spaces.
- Contributing to the overall upkeep and aesthetic of the village, ensuring both communal gardens and residents’ personal outdoor spaces are safe, attractive, and well-maintained.
- Working collaboratively with the wider team to create a welcoming, vibrant, and well-cared-for environment for all residents and visitors.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in grounds care and maintenance, including lawns, gardens, and outdoor communal spaces.
- Strong knowledge of plants, shrubs, and horticultural practices, with an understanding of seasonal care and maintenance.
- Competent in working safely, following Health and Safety regulations and COSHH guidelines.
- Horticultural qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- Attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards, ensuring both communal and residents’ personal outdoor spaces are well-kept and attractive.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills to interact with residents and colleagues.
