In partnership with Legal & General PLC and NatWest Pension Trustee Limited, with hugely ambitious (and very achievable) growth plans, we are seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead our operations team.

The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager to collaborate with regional and business stakeholders to uphold our brand and values. As a team role model, you are responsible for the service delivery of the village while maintaining village ethos. You will deputise to the General Manager ensuring resident satisfaction, team engagement, and commercial success. Delivering exceptional customer service will be second nature to you and you will pride yourself on creating and maintaining exceptional customer relationships.

The Role:

  • Managing colleagues: Effectively and efficiently building and managing multiple teams within the village including housekeeping, kitchen, food and beverage and overnight porters.
  • Demonstrating a work ethic of continuous personal and professional development, enhancing the village through success in deputising and creating opportunities for personal future career development.
  • Empowering your direct reports to deliver amazing experiences for residents, guests and customers.
  • Identifying and developing outstanding talent within your functional area.
  • Collaborating across your team to deliver against objectives and targets.
  • Managing performance, compliance, and risk: Ensuring Inspired Villages policies and processes are followed across your team.
  • Managing risk within your functional areas, in line with agreed standards, and ensuring appropriate controls are in place and being followed.
  • Ensuring safeguarding of residents, visitors & team members always.
  • Driving high performance and resident/team engagement through objective setting and regular performance and commercial reviews with your team.
  • Identifying and addressing in a timely manner, all areas for improvement impacting resident experience & happiness within your functional area.
  • Managing the internal community: Ensuring smooth delivery of all day-to-day activities and standards.
  • Driving vibrancy in the village through promotion, activities & use of all facilities – engaging with residents regularly to build the community.
  • Driving continuous improvement of the resident feedback process through our NPS (net promoter score) and OSAT (overall satisfaction) scores, ensuring action plans are created and delivered for your team.
  • Managing finance: Working with the General Manager, efficiently managing your functional area of the service charge budget.
  • Driving F&B profitability through increases in footfall, cost management, and service excellence.
  • Delivering all ancillary revenues (e.g. chargeable laundry, maintenance) and maintaining costs within budget, ensuring the delivery of the village P&L by year.
  • Driving sales success via support of the village sales team in promoting and filling the village.

Key Requirements:

  • A strong background in mid-level management preferably in hospitality or retirement communities’ sector.
  • Experience in running chargeable F&B services including budget management, labour modelling and building commercially viable services that offer choice, value and meet resident needs.
  • Working knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience in running additional hospitality services.
  • Efficient in use of all Microsoft packages, and high level of computer skills.
