The Role

Position: Mental Health Support Worker

Location: Across Leicester and Leicestershire

Hours:

  • 20 hours per week Monday-Wednesday 9am-2pm and Friday 9am-2pm (12-month Fixed Term Contract)
  • 30 hours per week Monday-Friday 9:30am-4pm, with Β½ hour unpaid lunch break (Permanent)

About The Role

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work one to one with Service Users, supporting them to:

  • Shop for, plan and prepare meals.
  • Clean, cook and do laundry.
  • Develop financial management skills.
  • Maintain / improve their physical health.
  • Build their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Develop social links outside their home.

The role may also involve facilitating group activity sessions, including a weekly mental health drop-in service open to both those living in our supported homes and the wider community.

You will be working for a local, registered Charity, operating for over 40 years. Our vision is to be a leading provider of housing and support services that empower individuals, promote social inclusion, and foster a strong, supportive community. We do this through the provision of supported housing, floating support and drop in-services for those with mental health conditions and through adherence to our values – person-centred, empowerment, respect, inclusiveness, partnership and integrity.

No personal care is involved.

About You

We are looking for committed individuals who are driven by a desire to make real difference to the lives of adults living with mental health conditions with:

  • A minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience and / or a minimum of level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or similar related subject
  • A positive \’can do\’ attitude, and a willingness to actively support residents with daily living tasks.
  • A warm and empathic approach
  • The ability to listen in an active and non-judgemental manner
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills (verbal and written)

You will also need to be reliable and have access to transport that ensures swift and smooth transitions between locations in and around Leicester City and Leicestershire. 45p per mile paid for use of own vehicle.
