We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Copywriter to join our retail media team. This role focuses on developing engaging and effective copy for supplier-sponsored placements across the John Lewis website. You will be responsible for crafting compelling messaging that enhances brand visibility, drives shopper engagement, and supports supplier marketing objectives within our digital retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Retail Media Copywriting: Write persuasive, concise copy for supplier-sponsored placements on the John Lewis website, including on-site banners, feature panels, promotional tiles, and product spotlights.
  2. Platform-Specific Messaging: Ensure content is optimized for various retail media formats and placements, aligning with both supplier goals and the John Lewis brand tone of voice.
  3. Collaborative Campaign Execution: Work closely with the retail media, design, and commercial teams to deliver cohesive and high-performing creative for supplier campaigns.
  4. Shopper-Focused Writing: Produce content that connects with customer needs and behaviours, encouraging exploration, consideration, and conversion.
  5. Content Accuracy & Quality: Edit and proofread all copy to maintain high standards of accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment.
  6. Industry Awareness: Stay informed on retail media trends and competitor practices to ensure content remains relevant and effective.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in copywriting, ideally within a retail, e-commerce, or digital media context.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone and messaging to suit both brand and supplier requirements.
  • Understanding of retail media networks and the role of paid placements in driving digital shopper engagement.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with retail content best practices and digital merchandising principles is a plus.
