A very exciting opportunity has become available for a customer-focused Optical Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis in a busy practice in Dunstable. I am recruiting for a franchise of one of the UK’s most trusted optical brands.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 months experience working within optics. Applications without this will be automatically rejected.

  • Salary: £26,000
  • Contract: Full-time, including alternate weekends (one on, one off – Saturdays + Sundays)
  • Location: Dunstable
  • Benefits: Free parking, bonus based on customer service, record keeping, and team KPIs

About the Practice

This practice is located in a busy supermarket with a large, loyal customer base. It has another site on the high street, with occasional travel required. The team is friendly, welcoming, and committed to delivering excellent customer care.

Role Responsibilities

  • Dispensing spectacles, conducting pre-screen tests, and contact lens teaching
  • Frame styling, adjustments, and collections
  • Providing advice to patients on options
  • Reception duties and general admin to ensure smooth practice operations
  • Occasional responsibilities such as keyholder duties, opening and closing the store, and team oversight in the manager's absence

Candidate Requirements

  • At least 12 months optics experience
  • Ability to assist junior team members and troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of best practices and clinical compliance
