Our client is seeking an experienced Publicist to join their team on a maternity cover running from mid-July until March 2026, working 0.8 hours. This position is based in their London office and offers a hybrid working environment.

This role is an exciting opportunity to lead publicity campaigns across a diverse portfolio of titles, spanning topics such as politics and world history, economics and sociology, climate change, race and gender, art and culture, and feminism.

As Publicist, you will be responsible for securing interviews, reviews, features, op-eds, event participation, and broadcast and online coverage for assigned titles. You’ll play a key role in fostering important conversations and amplifying authors’ voices on a national scale.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute impactful publicity plans for allocated titles, including pre-season title strategy planning and presenting campaigns to stakeholders (editors, authors, and agents).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media and event contacts to secure coverage and opportunities for books and authors.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for authors, addressing publicity-related queries.
  • Provide feedback on new editorial projects regarding publicity potential and positioning.
  • Manage publicity budgets, databases, and contact lists.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure publicity updates and align marketing campaigns where needed.

The ideal candidate will bring solid experience managing national publicity campaigns with a proven ability to secure mainstream coverage across print, broadcast, podcast, and online media. They will have an exceptional network of media contacts, including outlets in national print and digital platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with sharp attention to detail, are essential for handling multiple campaigns with numerous authors and stakeholders. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and GSuite is required, and a passion for publishing and all things books is a big advantage.
