An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Editor to join a respected STM journals team on a maternity cover contract. This is a brilliant chance to work on high quality scientific content for an international research audience within a well established scholarly publishing environment. This role is ideal for someone with STM or scholarly journals experience who enjoys managing production workflows, working closely with editors, authors and suppliers, and maintaining high standards across every stage of publication.
You will oversee the production of journal content from copyediting and typesetting through to proof correction, online checks, issue assembly and final publication, ensuring everything is delivered accurately and on schedule.
Key responsibilities- Manage journal production workflows from manuscript through to final publication.
- Coordinate editors, authors and suppliers to keep schedules on track and standards high.
- Carry out quality checks across proofs, online content and final files.
- Support efficient workflows, issue planning and continuous process improvement.
- Experience in STM, scholarly or journals publishing.
- Strong attention to detail and confident workflow management.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with multiple stakeholders.
- Comfortable using production systems and MS Office.
