An excellent opportunity has arisen for a temporary Assistant Librarian to join a specialist library team as part of a prestigious professional membership body based in Central London. This role will support a high-quality legal enquiry service and is ideal for someone with strong legal research experience who enjoys both working with collections and helping users access information. The role is full-time and set to last roughly 3 months. It requires 3 days per week working in the company's London office, and 2 days WFH.

Responsibilities

  • You will handle a wide range of research enquiries from solicitors, law firm staff and the public, delivering clear and accurate results.
  • You will carry out case law, legislation and literature searches, and present findings in a professional and accessible way.
  • You will take responsibility for cataloguing and collection management, including identifying gaps, selecting new resources, reviewing materials for retention, and maintaining accurate records on the library system.
  • You will support projects to improve the organisation and use of the collection.
  • You will work closely with colleagues and library users, providing support in person, by phone and by email.
  • You will contribute to training and help promote library services.

Qualifications

  • Strong legal research experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of using legal databases such as Westlaw and Lexis+ (preferred).
  • A proactive and collaborative approach.

This is a temporary role with an immediate start paying between £20 - £24 an hour.
