A very exciting opportunity has become available for an Optometrist on a full or part-time (3-days minimum), permanent basis with a well-established high-end independent based in the South of England. They are looking to recruit within one of their beautiful practices, north of Southampton, set in a stunning location in the heart of this vibrant market town!

This independent high street opticians, who have built a fantastic reputation for their clinical excellence and personalised care, are looking to add to their team by recruiting an Optometrist to work a minimum of 3 days per week, including one Saturday off per month. NO SUNDAYS OR BANK HOLIDAYS.

  • 40-minute testing times - giving you the space to deliver thorough, personalised eye care

An enthusiastic and committed individual is required to join and work in this practice, where you'll benefit from a single clinic room setup, supported by a knowledgeable and experienced DO Manager and a highly capable support team. This practice is all about team spirit, and you'll also have access to a very active Optometrist WhatsApp group for instant support and clinical discussion with your peers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens appointments
  • Offer specialist services such as dry eye clinics where required
  • Provide clear, patient-focused recommendations based on clinical findings
  • Ensure full compliance with General Optical Council (GOC) regulations
  • Maintain accurate, detailed patient records in line with legal standards
  • Work closely with Dispensing Opticians and support staff to deliver a seamless patient journey
  • Utilise advanced diagnostic equipment such as OCT, fundus cameras, tonometry, and visual fields
  • Promote eye health awareness and preventative care advice
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance processes
  • Contribute to practice growth through excellent patient care and communication
Requirements
  • BSc (Hons) Optometry or equivalent
  • Fully qualified and GOC registered Optometrist
  • Previous experience within a community practice setting
  • Additional accreditations such as GRR or Post Cataract (advantageous)

Compensation for the Optometrist

In return for your expertise and commitment, a highly competitive package is on offer:

  • Up to 70,000 basic salary (based on 40 hours FTE)
  • Ideally 3-5 days per week, with 1 Saturday off per month
