The Opportunity
A well-respected multiple group is looking for a confident and clinically strong Dispensing Optician Manager to take the lead on the shop floor within a busy, growing high-street practice in Hertfordshire. This is a hands-on management role where your clinical knowledge and leadership will be valued daily.
The business already has solid commercial leadership in place, but now needs a strong clinical presence to guide the team, support colleagues, and keep standards high as the store continues to grow. With testing volumes increasing and a busy period ahead, this is a key appointment - the right person will play a big part in shaping how the practice develops over the coming years.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the clinical side of the practice day-to-day
- Supporting the optical team with technical queries and patient care
- Coaching and developing staff, including onboarding new starters
- Monitoring KPIs and maintaining high clinical and service standards
- Working closely with leadership to drive performance and growth
- Helping maintain a smooth, well-organised working environment
You won't be left to figure everything out alone - there's already a strong, dynamic team in place, and support is available to help you develop further management skills such as appraisals and disciplinaries if needed.
The Practice
- Busy high-street location
- 3 test rooms (2 optics, 1 hearing)
- Team of around 8 colleagues day-to-day
- Strong team culture with experienced Optometrists and retail staff
- Growing patient demand with increasing test volumes
- A varied role that keeps things interesting - no two days the same
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Dispensing Optician (GOC registered)
- At least 2 years' management or supervisory experience
- Someone confident handling clinical queries and team support
- A positive leader who leads from the front
- Drive, determination and genuine passion for optics
- Willingness to grow with the business long-term
Supervisors or Assistant Managers from busy stores may also be considered if ready for the next step.
Why This Role Stands Out
- A genuinely important position within a growing business
- Supportive team already in place
- Clear opportunity to influence the direction of the practice
- Long-term career progression potential - not just another job
