An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Inspired as our Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Excellence Manager. This is a key role driving the strategic development and continuous improvement of SHE management across our UK manufacturing sites. Inspired Pet Nutrition (Inspired) is an innovative, well‑established, and award‑winning pet food manufacturer, home to beloved brands such as Harringtons, Wagg, Barking Heads, Meowing Heads, AATU, Blink, Butchers, and Classic Cat. We have 100s of colleagues across 3 different site locations in the UK – Thirsk (North Yorkshire), Crick (Northamptonshire), and Kinmel (Wales) – all working together to make great quality food for dogs and cats loved by families everywhere.
Role Purpose
Reporting to the Group Head of SHEQ, this role will lead the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, and Environmental management across all Inspired manufacturing sites. You’ll ensure full compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, champion a positive safety culture, and deliver measurable improvements in performance through collaboration, leadership, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement SHE strategies, policies, and procedures that support the prevention of harm and drive compliance across all sites.
- Promote knowledge sharing, best practice, and standardisation through training, leadership visibility, and stakeholder engagement.
- Lead cross‑functional projects and initiatives to continuously improve SHE performance and culture.
- Monitor and analyse SHE metrics, reporting key trends and insights to the Group Head of SHEQ and senior leadership.
- Identify and address risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement, implementing corrective and preventive actions where needed.
- Collaborate with external bodies, auditors, and insurers during inspections and audits to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
- Support and guide site SHE teams to build capability, consistency, and accountability across the business.
- Champion a proactive, people‑first safety culture that empowers colleagues at all levels to take ownership of SHE excellence.
About You
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent professional HSE qualification).
- Proven experience leading Safety, Health & Environment functions in a senior capacity within a multi‑site manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of SHE legislation, compliance frameworks, and best practice.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant standards.
- Strong analytical and project management skills, with the ability to lead complex, cross‑site initiatives.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, capable of engaging and inspiring teams across all levels.
- A proactive leader who’s passionate about driving meaningful change and embedding a positive safety culture.
