Area Manager | FMCG - Manufacturing | Pet Food

We’re excited to be recruiting for an Area Manager to join our Manufacturing team at Crick. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader, perfect for someone passionate about developing people and processes....finding better ways of working.
Role Purpose
You’ll be responsible for leading performance in our Processing area across our 24/7 operation, working with area shift leaders and their teams to deliver safe, compliant and efficient production. Working closely with colleagues across the site, you’ll help identify and remove the blockers to performance and reduce losses across Safety, Quality, Delivery, People and Cost.
Responsibilities
- Set the standard for performance across all shifts, working with shift leaders to agree clear priorities, effective handovers and consistent ways of working.
- Deliver productivity and efficiency targets in line with the production plan, managing waste and yield within agreed budgets.
- Maintain food safety and quality standards, keeping the operation safe and audit-ready.
- Build a safe working culture by following procedures, investigating accidents, agreeing corrective actions and encouraging near-miss reporting.
- Identify the biggest losses and turn them into clear action plans with owners, timescales and measurable outcomes.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, Planning and Packing to resolve barriers and keep the operation on track.
- Plan labour deployment so that availability matches production requirements.
- Keep the operations team informed of progress against plan, sharing any risks early.
- Coach and support colleagues across the area, helping them understand their objectives, take ownership and contribute to continuous improvement.
About you
- Experience of leading performance through others in a manufacturing environment, with or without direct line management.
- An understanding of operational performance, loss analysis and structured problem-solving.
- The ability to build clear action plans and deliver results through others.
- Clear communication and a collaborative, cross-functional way of working.
- A good understanding of food safety, quality and health and safety requirements.
- Good literacy and numeracy, and comfortable working with production data and Microsoft Office.
- HACCP Level 2, IOSH Level 2 and Advanced Food Hygiene would be an advantage, and we can support you to gain them.
