Inspired Learning Group (ILG) is seeking an Area People Partner to join our growing People Team at an exciting time of transformation and growth. ILG currently owns and operates 32 independent schools and nurseries across the UK, supporting around 2,000 colleagues. We are proud of the distinctive character of each of our settings and work closely with them to provide high-quality education in safe, inspiring environments.
The Area People Partner is a strategic partnering role, working closely with Headteachers, Nursery Managers, and senior leaders across a defined group of schools, nurseries and central teams. You will act as a trusted People advisor, supporting leaders across the full colleague lifecycle - from workforce planning and performance management to complex employee relations and organisational change. You will use people data and insight to inform decision-making, coach leaders to build capability, and help deliver a consistent, high-quality colleague experience aligned to ILG's values and priorities. This role works collaboratively with colleagues across People Operations, Recruitment, Partnering and Payroll, ensuring a joined-up and compliant People service across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong, credible relationships with Heads, Nursery Managers and senior leaders
- Provide expert advice on employee relations matters, ensuring legal compliance and best practice
- Coach and influence leaders to improve performance, engagement and leadership capability
- Support workforce planning, talent development and succession planning
- Lead and support change initiatives, including restructures, new systems and policy implementation
- Use people data and dashboards to provide insight and recommendations
- Work closely with People Operations to ensure smooth processes and a consistent colleague experience
About You
You will be an experienced HR / People professional with a strong background in HR advisory or partnering roles, ideally within a multi-site or complex organisation. You will bring:
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practice
- Confidence managing complex and sensitive employee relations cases
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach
- The ability to balance colleague experience with organisational priorities
- A proactive mindset, comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- A CIPD qualification (Level 3 or 5) or equivalent experience is desirable, along with a full UK driving licence.
- Experience in the education sector or working with modern HR systems would be an advantage, but is not essential.
