Location: Across Inspired Learning Group nursery settings

Inspired Learning Group is looking for a passionate, supportive and knowledgeable Early Years Assessor to join our team and support the development of our early years workforce.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced assessor who is committed to high-quality childcare, learner achievement and professional development. You will play a key role in supporting learners undertaking Early Years qualifications and apprenticeships, helping them build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive in the sector.

Inspired Learning Group is a growing group of independent senior schools, preparatory schools and nurseries in the UK. We take great pride in each one of them, supporting them enthusiastically in the achievement of excellence. We do this by striving to inspire each individual pupil to achieve the personal and social development and the academic result which best matches his or her personality and talents.

As an Early Years Assessor, you will guide learners throughout their qualification and apprenticeship journey, assessing their competence in the workplace and ensuring they meet the required standards.

Working closely with our Nursery Managers and nursery teams, you will help create a positive learning culture, promote best practice and ensure assessment activities meet awarding organisation and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess learners undertaking Early Years qualifications and apprenticeships through workplace observations, professional discussions, knowledge assessments and portfolio reviews.
  • Develop individual learning and assessment plans tailored to learners’ needs and workplace responsibilities.
  • Provide clear, constructive and motivating feedback to support learner progress and achievement.
  • Monitor learner performance, identify barriers to learning and implement appropriate support strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with Nursery Managers and colleagues to promote workplace learning and professional development.
  • Support learners in preparing for end-point assessment where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate learner records, assessment documentation and evidence in line with quality assurance requirements.
  • Participate in standardisation, internal quality assurance activities and continuing professional development.
  • Keep up to date with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework, safeguarding guidance and relevant legislation.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and high standards of professional practice across our settings.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing others and committed to delivering high-quality assessment and learner support.

You will bring:

  • Experience assessing Early Years qualifications or apprenticeships.
  • Experience supporting learners through vocational training and workplace assessment.
  • A relevant assessing qualification, ideally the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA), or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • A good understanding of apprenticeship standards, assessment requirements and end-point assessment processes.
  • Strong communication, coaching and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
  • A warm, calm and practical approach, with the confidence to work alongside nursery teams in busy early years environments.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and continuous professional development.

Additional experience or qualifications in internal quality assurance (IQA) would be an advantage. Occupational competence in Early Years, together with a relevant IQA qualification, would also be beneficial.

If you are enthusiastic about early years education, enjoy coaching and supporting others, and want to help shape the future of the sector, we would love to hear from you.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the date advertised. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis, as applications are received.
