Reddam House Berkshire is seeking enthusiastic and dynamic Staff Assistants (Day Staff) to support the delivery of our four-week Summer Camp programme running from 12 July - 8 August 2026. This is a fixed-term, full-time role for the duration of camp, with three training days prior to commencement and a wash-up/feedback day at the end of the contract. Reporting to the Summer Camp Director / Subject Lead, the post-holder will provide strong pastoral support to campers, assist with learning and cultural opportunities, support excursions and activities, and contribute to a safe, well-organised and enjoyable camp experience. Staff will work a 6-day week, minimum 40 hours per week, with one full day off per week, and duties include evening and some weekend work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent pastoral care for campers, including health and safety, safeguarding and discipline.
- Assist in providing rich learning opportunities for campers, including language and cultural experiences.
- Support the delivery of fun and engaging excursions/trips in collaboration with the Director.
- Help assess student work, correct misunderstandings and contribute to end-of-stay camper reports.
- Manage day-to-day student behaviour and participation issues, escalating concerns to the Subject Lead and/or Director.
- Collaborate with the Head of Boarding and wider camp team as required to support smooth camp operations.
- Attend weekend activities when required and assist with planning the evening activities schedule.
- Be on call in the event of an incident, fire, intruder, or other emergency.
- Support pocket money collection and distribution where required.
- Support first aid and health issues alongside the Camp Director and Head of Boarding and ensure documentation/medical items are prepared for arrivals/departures.
- Undertake additional reasonable duties as directed by the line manager, commensurate with experience and training.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Ability to ensure students’ physical and mental wellbeing.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, colleagues and parents.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
- A reliable, adaptable and committed approach with strong team spirit.
- Ability to take part in afternoon, recreational and outdoor activities.
- A patient, enthusiastic and dependable attitude.
- Willingness to work a 6-day rota, including evenings and some weekend duties.
- Full DBS clearance (required).
- First Aid training (preferred).
- Experience of curriculum-based teaching or learning support (desirable).
- Teaching or coaching leadership qualifications (desirable).
- Experience supporting sports or extra-curricular activities (desirable).
