Chepstow House School is an established 3‑form entry, Coed Prep with a nursery attached and outstanding facilities within the Notting Hill Gate area. It is a growing school offering opportunities for staff development and career progression. The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that enables each child to achieve their full potential in a happy and caring environment. Chepstow House aims to discover the best in every child and challenge them to go beyond their expectations. Chepstow House School is currently looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Teaching Assistant to join our team from January 2026. The working hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. You may have one or two days a week where additional time is needed after school to assist with clubs. These duties will take place beyond the stated school hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setting up classroom playground between 8:00 am and 8:30 am.
  • Morning gate duty or class supervision to cover staff on morning gate duty, from 8:15 am.
  • Ensuring that all children are safe in the classroom/hall/playground and never unsupervised and that they do not leave the classroom/hall/playground without prior permission.
  • Hear individual children read, where requested by the class teacher.
  • Take guided reading groups.
  • Play reading and/or spelling games with individual children as directed by the teacher.
  • Attend weekly off‑site PE lessons (KS2 TAs), leading a group with a planned sport activity.
  • Attend a year group residential trip (up to one week in length), where necessary.
  • Contribute to and participate in team planning, self‑evaluation, in‑service training, and professional development in assigned areas of the curriculum and pastoral arrangements.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Have an enhanced DBS and prohibition order clearance.
  • Be aware of and follow the safeguarding, Prevent Duty, anti‑bullying, and behaviour and discipline policies of the school.
  • Promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
  • Be committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents, using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning.
  • Be a committed, dynamic, and proactive teaching assistant and a cheerful, friendly, and cooperative team member.
  • Be supportive and positive in their interactions with team members and pupils.
  • Maintain excellent levels of appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Involve themselves fully in the life of the school.
  • Value, and be willing to promote, the caring ethos of the school.
