ROLE SUMMARY:
The lunchtime supervisor will be a member of the staff at Wetherby Kensington and will hold responsibility for ensuring the effective and efficient running of lunchtimes, ensuring the boys are supervised safely during the lunch period. The lunchtime supervisor will report to and be responsible to the Headmistress.
To be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in line with the school policy. The main areas of work responsibility will be the dining room and the outside play area or areas of the school used during lunch time, including areas where the children wait or queue for their meal. A good standard of behaviour is needed and it is important that this should be maintained throughout lunch time which should be a pleasant experience for all concerned. The lunchtime supervisor must act as a responsible caring adult with the health, safety, welfare of the children always in mind, must show conduct which commands respect and must see that the boys behave sensibly at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage queues to the dining room.
- Supervising pupils at meal times - encouraging the boys to eat healthily, helping boys to cut up food and encourage the boys to have good table manners.
- To assist the boys, where possible, with the correct use of cutlery, drinking facilities or other aspects of the midday meal.
- Cleaning up spillages and helping, when necessary, to clean tables and clear the dining area.
- Overseeing the boys during outside play or during wet play, suggesting activities and monitoring their safety and suitability.
- Supervise boys using the toilet facilities including ensuring good standards of hygiene.
- Caring for the personal cleanliness of the boys.
- Making sure any boys who are ill or injured receive appropriate medical attention and report any serious accidents.
- Ensure the health, safety and welfare of the boys is maintained at all times.
- Arrange supervision to ensure that all areas of the outside play area are covered.
- Regularly rotate activities on offer to the boys, when necessary.
- Promote the inclusion of all boys.
- To be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in line with the school policy.
- Work within the schoolβs health and safety policy to ensure a safe working environment for staff, pupils and visitors.
- Undertake other relevant duties associated with the job purpose allocated at the discretion of the Headmistress.
- To take part in regular meetings with the Headmistress, where necessary, as a means of communicating information.
- Participate in INSET training when required.
- To maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school-related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A strong commitment to customer service, combined with an enthusiastic and flexible manner.
