ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais, part of the prestigious Inspired Education Group, is a leading international school in the Lisbon area. We offer a global education through the Cambridge International curriculum up to Year 10, supported by a bilingual Portuguese–English programme up to Year 5. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly effective Teacher of Chemistry to join us in the next academic year. This is an exciting time to join our Science Department, delivering high‑quality lessons and inspiring students across the Senior School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver well‑planned and inspiring Chemistry lessons aligned with Key Stage 3, iGCSE, and IB Diploma Programme specifications, and whole‑school academic expectations.
  • Teach combined Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) in Years 7 and 8.
  • Foster scientific inquiry, analytical thinking, and practical laboratory skills through high‑quality teaching and learning.
  • Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments, including iGCSE and IBDP requirements.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress with accuracy and consistency, maintaining high academic standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the ongoing improvement of schemes of work, resources, and assessment practices.
  • Support and collaborate with colleagues within the Science Department, promoting strong pedagogy and continual professional growth.
  • Ensure inclusive teaching strategies that support students of all abilities, including those with diverse learning needs.
  • Enhance the science co‑curricular programme through clubs, competitions, fieldwork, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Contribute to the pastoral care of students and promote wellbeing, resilience, and a passion for scientific learning.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A recognised teaching qualification and a degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Experience teaching Chemistry to iGCSE and IBDP level, and combined Science in Years 7 and 8.
  • Ability to teach either Biology or Physics at iGCSE alongside Chemistry.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students to understand and appreciate science.
  • Outstanding organisational, communication, and classroom‑management skills.
  • A reflective, innovative mindset with a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Experience in an international school environment or with international curricula (highly desirable).
