Inspire Resourcing Ltd are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Tool Room Operator to join their client's engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and components. You will play a key role in supporting production by delivering high-quality engineering solutions with minimal supervision.

Duties:

  • Manual Machining: Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to produce components to precise tolerances.
  • CNC Operation: Set up and operate CNC milling machines using Fanuc and Prototrak controllers.
  • Tool Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance, sharpening, and repair of tooling.
  • Precision Measurement: Perform self-inspection using micrometres, verniers, height gauges, and other metrology equipment to ensure compliance with technical drawings.
  • Problem Solving: Work from engineering drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions to manufacture one-off components or replacement parts.
  • Independent Working: Manage your own workload effectively to meet production deadlines while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Manual Machining Expertise: Proven experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders.
  • CNC Knowledge: Competent in CNC machine operation; experience with Fanuc and Prototrak controls is desirable.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret complex 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
  • Self-Motivated: A proactive, “can-do” attitude with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Quality Driven: Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality precision work.
