The role combines hands-on senior-level design engineering with responsibility for managing and developing a small design team (2–3 designers/engineers), acting as a technical authority on complex mechanical systems used in hot rolling environments. The Senior Mechanical Designer will lead the mechanical design of cast, machined and fabricated components/products for use within the steel rolling process, producing and reviewing 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or Creo. This position also involves the development of product concepts, performing design calculations, tolerance studies, and design-for-manufacture reviews.
Requirements
- Significant experience in mechanical design engineering within heavy machinery, steel, metals or similar process industries.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering designs and technical documentation.
- Prior experience mentoring or supervising other designers or engineers.
- Willingness to travel internationally approximately four times per year.
