Maintenance Team Member Reports To: Maintenance Engineer Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday Days Job Purpose The Maintenance Team Member (full training provided) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving plant, machinery, and equipment to ensure maximum operational uptime, efficiency, reliability, and safety. Working closely with the Engineering and Production teams, the postholder will support continuous improvement activities and contribute to maintaining a safe and productive manufacturing environment. This job description is not exhaustive and may be amended to reflect changing business requirements. All employees are expected to undertake reasonable duties consistent with the nature and level of the role. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Duties will include: * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on production machinery, equipment, and associated systems. * Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform corrective maintenance to minimise production downtime. * Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and implement effective repair solutions. * Support the installation, modification, and commissioning of machinery and equipment as required. * Assist in identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Health, Safety and Compliance * Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company health and safety policies and procedures. * Comply with all relevant legislation, safety standards, and site regulations. * Maintain a safe and tidy working environment at all times. * Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe systems of work. * Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and equipment defects promptly. Documentation and Record Keeping * Complete maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner. * Maintain documentation relating to repairs, inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance activities. * Assist with maintaining spare parts inventories and engineering records. * Support compliance with audit, quality, and regulatory requirements. Person Specification * Previous experience in a maintenance or engineering role within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment is a distinct advantage * Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance activities. * Experience working with production machinery and equipment. * Understanding of health and safety procedures within an industrial environment. Knowledge and Skills Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities. Good mechanical and/or electrical maintenance knowledge. Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to breakdown situations. Strong analytical and diagnostic skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Competent IT skills for recording maintenance activities and accessing technical information.
