DVLA are looking for a Senior Agile Delivery Manager to support a major, multi-year transformation of its vehicle services, helping to modernise digital products used by millions of people across the UK. You will lead and support agile squads working with modern, cloud-based technology and have access to their renowned agile learning pathway.
As Senior Agile Delivery Manager, you will support agile squads delivering digital products as part of DVLA's multi-year vehicle services transformation. You will facilitate agile ceremonies, remove blockers, support planning and delivery activity and help teams work effectively across Scrum, Kanban and other agile approaches.
You will have direct line management responsibility for developers and testers within the squad, supporting their performance and development. Working closely with Technical Product Managers, Business Analysts, Service Designers, Delivery Managers and capability leads, you will help create a positive, self-organising team culture where people are supported to deliver high-quality digital services.
This role is suitable for someone who has strong hands-on experience as a Scrum Master or an Agile Delivery Manager, with line management experience and a genuine passion for helping teams deliver well. You will also have access to DVLA's renowned agile learning pathway, offering recognised certifications across Scrum, Kanban, agile leadership, facilitation, scaling and DevOps.
Responsibilities:
- Drive IT planning activity, including sprint planning, release milestones, timelines and product roadmap delivery.
- Support teams to deliver in line with DVLA's IT Strategy and wider government digital agenda.
- Champion agile ways of working, using tools and metrics to improve transparency, predictability and continuous improvement.
- Line manage, coach and support skilled engineering teams, helping people develop and deliver successfully.
- Create a positive, flexible team environment that supports delivery at pace and adapts to changing priorities.
Essential skills:
- Experience delivering digital products and services in a changing environment, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Technical background with experience managing large-scale deliveries using agile methodologies.
- People management experience, including building positive team culture and supporting professional development.
- Confident advocate for continuous professional development and helping drive cultural change across government.
- Previous line management experience, agile delivery knowledge and the ability to work through ambiguity.
