About the role: The Facilities Technician role is based across our Trust sites, including Oakwood High School, Sitwell Junior School, Thomas Rotherham College and Winterhill School. Working hours are 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the hours will be on a rota basis between 05:30 and 18:30. Key duties: The successful Facilities Technician will:

  • Deliver the full range of caretaking duties in line with policies, procedures, legislation and internal operational procedures, as directed by the Senior Site Caretaker.
  • Assist with maintaining the grounds and preparing rooms, halls and other areas.
  • Install new fixtures and fittings, depending on skills and experience.
  • Carry out aspects of routine maintenance including painting, plumbing, and general maintenance.
  • Previous trade experience is welcomed but not essential.

About you: The successful Facilities Technician should have:

  • Relevant educational qualifications, e.g. Caretaking, Health and Safety, Grounds and/or facilities maintenance (Desirable).
  • Evidence of experience of facilities maintenance work at an appropriate level through work, or practical experience in trade, construction or renovation (Desirable).
  • The ability to work within recognised procedures and respond to unexpected problems and situations (Essential).
  • Ability to relate to and respect pupils/students and act as a role model at all times. This may include sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues or young people, for example, on work placements (Essential).
