We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant / Pastoral Mentor to join a specialist education setting supporting students with SEMH and additional learning needs in Thrapston. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about supporting young people both academically and emotionally. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to help students engage with learning, manage barriers to education, and develop positive behaviours and social skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in lessons and around the school environment
- Provide pastoral support and build positive relationships with students
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning resources
- Encourage student engagement, motivation, and progress
- Support behaviour management and promote a positive learning environment
- Monitor student wellbeing, attendance, and participation
- Help students reintegrate into learning when disengaged
- Contribute to safeguarding and student welfare procedures
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour
- GCSE Maths and English Grade 4/C or above
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Patient, resilient, and able to build rapport with students
- Experience within education or alternative provision is desirable
