We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in the Welwyn Garden City area. The school supports pupils with a range of complex learning needs and is looking for someone who can provide compassionate, consistent and hands-on support. If you have experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), or Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), this could be an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference every day. The Role Developing positive, trusting relationships with pupils and providing consistent emotional support. Supporting teachers to deliver engaging and accessible lessons tailored to individual learning needs. Providing 1:1 and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom. Helping pupils develop communication, social, sensory and emotional-regulation skills. Encouraging independence and supporting positive behaviour strategies. Assisting with personal care, physiotherapy and other individual support requirements where necessary. Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to meet pupils' needs. Helping to maintain a safe, structured and stimulating learning environment. What We're Looking For Previous experience supporting children or young people with ASD, PMLD and/or SLD. A patient, caring and resilient approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues. An understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and equal opportunities. An Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one. Reliable access to Welwyn Garden City.
