Position: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Hours: Monday – Friday
Salary: £13 - £15/hr dependent on experience
Contract: Temp to Perm
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the SEN Coordinator and class teachers in both Ipswich and Felixstowe.
- Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and monitor pupils' progress across both locations.
- Provide one-on-one support to children, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each child.
- Encourage pupils with autism to navigate their educational journey confidently and successfully.
- Support the planned extension of services to Key Stage 2.
- Contribute to the inclusive ethos of schools, creating a welcoming environment for all learners.
- Uphold the values of the schools, ensuring children with autism receive personalised, nurturing care.
Skills & Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN environment.
- Knowledge of autism and effective strategies to support children with this diagnosis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with pupils and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to solving challenges.
