Salary: £13.51 – £14.45 per hour (depending on qualifications)
Hours: 40 hours per week, term time only
- Monday - 8:15am 4:45pm
- Tuesday 8:15am - 5:00pm
- Wednesday & Thursday 8:15am - 4:45pm
- Friday 8:15am - 4:00pm

This specialist primary school in Smallfield, Surrey, supports pupils aged 6–11 with communication difficulties linked to Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The school provides a highly supportive and structured environment. Although it is a primary setting, many pupils are working at least two academic years below their chronological age. The role involves supporting high-quality teaching and learning and helping pupils feel safe, engaged, and able to enjoy their learning.
Key duties include:
- Building warm, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils
- Promoting independence and personal development
- Supporting the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom
- Adapting to the varying and changing needs of the school to support smooth daily operations
- Supporting pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development
- Occasional physical intervention may be required; full training will be provided
Skills and qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
- Experience working in a special school or SEN environment is highly desirable
- Team Teach training is desirable (training can be provided)
