The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Location: Pilning, South Gloucestershire, BS35 4JN

Salary: £150 - £200 per day (depending on experience & qualifications)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Contract: Long-term, temp-to-perm and permanent options available

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 7-19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and associated social and communication needs. The setting forms part of an innovative organisation providing education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. It offers a supportive, structured environment with excellent behaviour and a strong focus on both academic achievement and life skills.

The curriculum includes life skills alongside a wide range of GCSE, Functional Skills and BTEC accreditations, as well as functional skills and entry-level pathways.

We are seeking an experienced Teacher to work with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. There is a particular interest in candidates with experience in digital skills and online safety, who can inspire and engage learners while helping them reach their full potential. The role includes delivering core subjects and taking responsibility for digital skills and online safety across the provision.

The role requires an inspirational and engaging Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching and learning to pupils with autism and associated complex needs, including ADHD, OCD and PDA. Some pupils may also have multiple learning difficulties and may present with behaviours linked to their needs.

  • Deliver creative, well-planned lessons that support pupils to make progress academically, socially and emotionally.
  • High expectations, flexibility and a strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions are essential to support the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to individual needs.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that enable pupils to achieve accreditation across a range of academic pathways, while promoting independence and resilience both in and beyond the classroom.
  • Supervising, supporting and guiding Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, and contributing to their professional development through reviews and ongoing support.
  • Responsible for implementing policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
  • Monitoring pupils' health, wellbeing and personal care is also a key aspect of the role, with responsibility for sharing concerns with pastoral, clinical and SEND support teams and other relevant professionals as appropriate.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • A proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for pupils
  • Strong knowledge of the curriculum and the ability to adapt it to meet the needs of pupils with SEN
  • Experience working with young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • The ability to build and maintain strong, nurturing relationships with pupils
  • Experience supporting a range of learning approaches, including working with pupils experiencing anxiety
  • Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners
  • A flexible, creative approach with the ability to adapt teaching to individual needs
  • Experience managing and supporting a small team of Teaching Assistants
