About the role

  • Location: King’s Lynn, Norfolk
  • Salary: £14 - £16 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Contract Type: Temp to Perm
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30
  • Start Date: March 2026

Your responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant

  • Support students with SEMH needs and additional challenges both academically and emotionally
  • Build positive and trusting relationships to help young people regulate emotions and feel safe
  • Assist teachers with personalised lesson plans and interventions
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and help reduce the need for physical interventions
  • Work with therapists, teachers and specialists to ensure every child receives consistent, thoughtful care

What we’re looking for

  • A recent degree in Psychology, Education, Social Sciences or a related field
  • A genuine interest in working with children who experience emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Patience, resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Experience working or volunteering with children is a bonus but not essential
  • A commitment to learning, reflection and professional growth
