Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Hours: Full‑time, Monday to Friday

Salary: £dependent on experience

Contract: Temp to Perm, Term‑Time Only

Key Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support for students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Assist in delivering creative and engaging lessons, ensuring every pupil feels included and supported.
  • Implement behaviour strategies and promote positive interactions.
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to support students with additional challenges such as dyslexia and ADHD.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and professionals to develop personalised support plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Skills & Requirements:

  • A passion for working with children with SEMH needs and additional challenges such as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), ADHD and dyslexia.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive outlook.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and think creatively when faced with challenging behaviour.
  • A good sense of humour and the ability to make learning fun!
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to commute to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
