An established specialist SEN education provider in Lowestoft, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Primary Teacher (KS2) to join their team as soon as possible. This setting supports pupils aged 11–16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), mainly presenting with SEMH, social, emotional and behavioural needs. All pupils access small, highly supported classes, where learning is personalised, nurturing and relationship‑driven.

The role is to support pupils in a creative way and the school is looking for a creative primary teacher who enjoys working with children with SEN.

About the Setting

The provision is built around the belief that young people thrive when they feel safe, valued and supported, and that social and emotional development is as important as academic progress. Teaching takes place within a structured, trauma‑informed environment, where positive relationships, trust and consistency are at the heart of daily practice. Staff work collaboratively to deliver a creative and flexible curriculum, meeting pupils at their individual starting points while maintaining high expectations. Behaviour is supported through positive reinforcement, emotional regulation strategies and a strong focus on personal development, wellbeing and life skills.

As a SEN Primary Teacher (KS2), you will deliver tailored learning programmes to a small group of pupils, supported by experienced teaching assistants and leaders. You will contribute to:

  • Personalised curriculum planning and delivery
  • Social and emotional learning embedded across subjects
  • Calm, consistent behaviour support strategies
  • Strong pupil‑staff relationships that promote engagement and belonging
  • Regular assessment and mapping of pupil progress

This role is ideal for an SEN specialist, or a mainstream teacher ready to move into specialist or alternative provision, with ongoing training and support provided.

Suitable Qualifications Include:

  • QTS (desirable, but not essential)
  • QTLS
  • DTLLS / DTTLS
  • Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
  • Other UK‑recognised teaching qualifications

We Are Looking For Teachers Who:

  • Have experience teaching pupils or young people (mainstream or specialist)
  • Are Primary trained and/or have a genuine interest in SEN, SEMH and inclusive education
  • Can adapt teaching to meet complex and individual needs
  • Use positive, restorative and trauma‑informed approaches
  • Are resilient, reflective and committed to pupil wellbeing and outcomes

In Return, You Can Expect:

  • Small class sizes with high staff‑to‑pupil ratios
  • A supportive, collaborative team culture
  • Ongoing SEN‑focused CPD and professional development
