Contract until July, with the possibility of becoming permanent. Rate: £150 - £190 per day. Contract: Temporary / Contract. Location: Colchester, North Essex (CO area). The role is easily commutable from Braintree, Chelmsford, Ipswich, Clacton on Sea, Witham, and wider Essex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, individualised lessons for pupils with autism and complex learning profiles.
- Assess progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies to meet each child's unique needs.
- Use autism specific approaches and trauma informed behaviour strategies to support positive outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain thorough records, contribute to reviews, and participate in team meetings.
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports communication, emotional regulation, and wellbeing.
What We’re Looking For:
- QTS (or very strong SEN experience - teaching qualifications outside mainstream will also be considered).
- Experience supporting KS2 pupils with autism, communication differences, and behavioural challenges.
- Knowledge of autism specific pedagogy and an enthusiasm for creative, child centred teaching.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi disciplinary team.
- Resilience, warmth, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with complex needs.
- An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
