We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design & Technology Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEMH school in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative practitioner who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve meaningful outcomes.

You will deliver engaging DT lessons tailored to individual needs that inspire pupils to develop practical skills, confidence, and a love of learning. Our DT facilities offer opportunities across areas such as resistant materials, product design, engineering basics, and hands-on project work.

Our school near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire supports children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, many of whom have experienced disrupted education. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality DT lessons tailored to SEMH learners.
  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive workshop environment.
  • Build positive relationships to promote engagement, resilience, and success.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and behaviour teams.
  • Track and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching where needed.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and enrichment projects.
Specification
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching DT at KS3 and/or KS4.
  • A passion for working with pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and emotional resilience.
  • Ability to create inclusive, practical, and engaging lesson content.
Desirable:
  • Experience in a specialist setting (SEMH, PRU, SEND).
  • Workshop safety qualifications or experience with resistant materials.
  • Ability to lead a subject area or develop the DT curriculum.
