Are you looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a genuine difference to young people’s lives? We are recruiting a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

You’ll be supporting students aged 4–18 with a range of additional needs including autism, PDA, ADHD, OCD and associated complex learning or behavioural difficulties.

Details

  • Location: Near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
  • Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only | Temp to Perm
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00 (term-time only)
  • Pay: £90 – £100 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)

Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support in and out of the classroom
  • Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and daily routines
  • Follow behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies
  • Support learning activities and adapt resources to suit individual needs
  • Help pupils build confidence and independence in a structured, nurturing setting
  • Provide personal care support where required
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and wellbeing

What We’re Looking For

  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Some experience supporting children or young people with SEND (personal or professional)
  • A good understanding of autism, child development and safeguarding practices
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent)
  • Ability to reliably travel to the rural location near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
