About the Role

We’re looking for a Student Mentor to join our supportive and dedicated team at Peterborough College. In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with curriculum teams and student services to support learners’ personal development, wellbeing, attendance, and progression.

You’ll deliver engaging weekly Personal Development sessions, provide frontline pastoral support to your caseload of students, and play a key role in improving attendance, retention, and overall student success.

What You’ll Be Doing

Planning and delivering engaging Personal Development sessions aligned with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework

*

Providing pastoral support and acting as a trusted point of contact for students

*

Monitoring and improving attendance and punctuality, working with families and external agencies where needed

*

Supporting vulnerable learners, including those with EHCPs, young carers, and other at-risk groups

*

Working collaboratively with curriculum teams, Student Services, Careers, and Welfare teams

*

Supporting student progression and destinations, including careers guidance and applications

*

Contributing to recruitment activities such as Open Days, enrolment, and induction events

*

Maintaining accurate records and using data to inform effective interventions

*

Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, and inclusion in everything you do

About You

You’ll be a confident, empathetic professional who enjoys working with young people and understands the impact strong pastoral support can have.

You will have:

Experience working with young people in a support, mentoring, or educational role

*

A Level 3 teaching-related qualification and Level 2 English & Maths (or willing to work towards)

*

Strong communication and organisational skills

*

The ability to build positive relationships and manage challenging situations with resilience

*

A genuine commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student success

Experience in an FE setting or a qualification in mentoring/coaching is desirable, but not essential.
