We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Technician Trainer to join our Engineering & Motor Vehicle team at Peterborough College, part of Inspire Education Group. This is an exciting role where no two days look the same — supporting learners, maintaining specialist workshops, and helping deliver high-quality practical training.
Responsibilities:
- Providing training, coaching and practical support to learners across Motor Vehicle programmes.
- Assessing students' skills and progress against set criteria.
- Supporting teaching staff with engaging practical and vocational activities.
- Delivering underpinning knowledge sessions through tutorials, workshops and observations.
- Maintaining, repairing and organising tools, equipment, materials and workshop spaces.
- Supervising learners during practical tasks, assessments, examinations and off-site visits.
- Ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety standards (including COSHH).
- Assisting with stock control, inventories and administrative tasks.
- Carrying out minor maintenance and first-aid duties when required.
- Contributing to curriculum planning, team meetings and College-wide events such as open evenings.
What We Are Looking For:
Essential:
- Level 2 qualification in a relevant Motor Vehicle subject.
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Strong knowledge of Motor Vehicle products, equipment and materials.
- Up-to-date understanding of Health & Safety in a workshop environment.
- Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills.
- Confidence working with young people of mixed abilities.
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe and professional workshop environment.
- A proactive team player with a “can-do” approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and high-quality student experience.
Desirable (or willingness to work towards):
- Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle or related discipline.
- Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET/PTLLS).
- Emergency First Aid at Work.
- Experience in teaching, demonstrating or coaching.
- Experience in minor maintenance tasks or supervision of students.
