We're looking for an Apprenticeship Mentor to join our Apprenticeship Academy at Peterborough College, where you'll play a vital role in shaping positive outcomes for our apprentices. This is a part-time (30 hours per week) fixed-term contract to cover maternity. This is a rewarding, people-focused role where you'll combine mentoring, pastoral support, personal development delivery, and data-led interventions to help apprentices succeed both personally and professionally.
About the role: Reporting to the Group Apprenticeship Delivery Manager, you'll work closely with curriculum teams, Student Services, ALS, Welfare, Careers, and employer partners to support apprentices across a diverse range of programmes. The Apprenticeship Mentor will be responsible for:
- Delivering engaging personal development sessions aligned to the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework
- Providing pastoral support and acting as a key point of contact for apprentices in your caseload
- Identifying additional support needs and coordinating timely interventions, particularly for vulnerable learners
- Monitoring attendance, punctuality, retention, and progress, using data to drive improvement
- Working collaboratively with employers to ensure apprentices are supported both on programme and in the workplace
- Supporting safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion across the Apprenticeship Academy
Your work will directly contribute to high retention, strong attendance, and positive destinations for our apprentices.

- Are confident delivering group sessions and building positive, professional relationships
- Understand the importance of safeguarding, inclusion, and learner wellbeing
- Are organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities
- Communicate effectively with learners, colleagues, and external partners
A Level 2 qualification in learner support, mentoring, or coaching is essential. Experience in an FE or apprenticeship environment is desirable but not essential; we value attitude, empathy, and commitment to learner success.
