Overview

Salary: Qualified Teachers Pay Scales: Main Pay Scale (MPS). Part Time – 13 hours per week / 0.4 FTE (Days to be discussed at interview). Start Date: January 2026.

Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form is seeking an inspiring, innovative, and dedicated Teacher (Biology/Chemistry) to join our team; a teacher who shares our belief that all pupils have the right to succeed and have access to the very best education. Sir Isaac has an experienced staff body with a strong ethos of coaching and support which makes this post particularly good for an Early Career Teacher. The ideal candidate will have some experience or interest in teaching Environmental Science.

You will be part of a team that delivers a broad, balanced, and inclusive curriculum for students. You’ll monitor and support students’ progress and development and contribute to raising standards and attainment, whilst motivating and challenging students to achieve their very best. You will work with the department to contribute to improving and developing current curriculum resources.

This post is suitable for both an experienced or early years career teacher as we are able to offer alternative key stage 3 and 4 teaching at our neighbouring schools. We welcome applicants to visit the school for an informal meeting and would further encourage PGCE and ECT applicants to spend a day with us to learn about our school.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure pupils receive an excellent education through the delivery of high-quality teaching
  • To monitor and support overall progress and development of students as a teacher and therefore contribute to raising standards of student attainment
  • To teach the curriculum as set out by the Curriculum Leader, including preparing pupils for examination in appropriate qualifications

Qualifications

  • An appropriate degree and other qualifications required for the award of QTS. Qualified Teacher Status (trainees should be on track to achieve QTS before taking up the post).
  • Experience of teaching Environmental Science will be desirable.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEND and Child Protection
