Part Time: 3.25 hours per week (0.1 FTE). The working day can be discussed at interview. Locations: East Point Academy (Kirkley Run, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR33 0UQ) and Great Yarmouth Primary Academy (Dickens Avenue, Great Yarmouth, NR30 3DT) at the outset. Trust Central Services, including the Trust’s ‘Music HQ’, is based at Hewett Academy in Norwich. Start Date: September 2026.
Inspiration Trust is seeking to appoint a Visiting Music Teacher with a Piano specialism to support the music department at East Point Academy and Great Yarmouth Primary Academy. If you are an excellent teacher, passionate about education, and eager to develop your practice, we want to hear from you. The successful applicant will plan and deliver high‑quality instrumental and vocal teaching within the designated schools and facilitate co‑curricular musical opportunities. While most teaching will occur during school hours, additional work out of school hours, such as rehearsals, performances and examinations, will also be required.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Plan and teach well‑structured lessons that support pupils in making progress.
- Prepare pupils for performances and examination opportunities as appropriate.
- Provide a learning experience that allows all pupils, including SEND and disadvantaged students and those of varying attainment levels, to reach their potential.
- Assess, record and report on pupil progress, development and attainment, and maintain required records.
- Facilitate extra‑curricular musical opportunities across multiple academies within the Trust.
- Communicate effectively with the Director of Music, school leaders and the music teacher coordinator to fulfil role requirements.
About You
The successful candidate must be committed to changing lives and outcomes for young people, possess strong communication skills, empathy, patience, and creativity in teaching, and be adaptable and passionate about pupil success. You will act as a positive role model, foster a supportive learning environment, and commit to your own continuous learning and professional development.
- Grade 8 or above in a primary study instrument (or equivalent demonstrable skill level).
- Grade 5 music theory or above (or equivalent).
- Valid driving licence.
- Experience teaching a range of ages, from primary to secondary pupils.
- Experience leading and assisting with ensemble activities (choirs, ensembles, performance opportunities).
- Degree in music.
- Certificate for Music Educators (CME).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Grade 5 on a second instrument (beneficial but not required).
