About Bridging Beats: Catalysing Futures
Bridging Beats is a 24-month youth music and social impact programme working with young people aged 9-16 from Leicester’s Highfields and Belgrave communities. The project blends eastern and western musical genres, supporting young people to:
- Develop creative and technical music skills
- Build confidence, wellbeing and social cohesion
- Progress into further music and creative pathways
The programme includes outreach activities in local primary schools, weekly creative sessions at Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre and Highfields Centre, a summer residency at Curve and high-profile public performances in Leicester and London.
About the position
Inspirate is seeking a Community Producer to lead on the engagement, coordination and delivery of Bridging Beats. You will play a critical role in building relationships with young people, schools, families and community partners, ensuring the programme is inclusive, accessible and responsive to participant needs.
Working closely with the Artists & Programmes Director, artists and project delivery partners, you will support the successful delivery of outreach, workshops and progression pathways for young people, while maintaining strong community development relationships.
The role requires a producer with strong community engagement experience, excellent coordination skills and a commitment to youth development and social impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement & Outreach
- Lead on delivery of outreach activity across schools, libraries and community centres in Highfields and Belgrave - engaging young people in taster sessions.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, schools and youth organisations to attract participants to take part in weekly workshops.
- Support recruitment of participants, ensuring diverse and representative engagement, including targeted engagement with underrepresented groups.
- Act as a key point of contact for young people and families - creating a safe and trusted environment where you are regularly engaging communities.
- Coordinate weekly creative sessions, ensuring smooth delivery.
- Support planning and delivery of the Creative Music Programme and Summer Residency, including organising logistics and project managing delivery.
- Manage participant communication, attendance tracking and engagement, ensuring you encourage regular weekly engagement.
- Ensure sessions are delivered in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
- Facilitate youth voice and co-design processes, ensuring participants shape programme content.
- Support Youth Ambassadors to take on mentoring and leadership roles.
- Enable feedback mechanisms to inform programme development and the Youth Music funding evaluation process.
- Pastoral Support & Safeguarding
- Provide pastoral support to participants, building trust and positive relationships.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are implemented and adhered to at all times.
- Identify additional support needs and signpost to appropriate services where required.
- Work sensitively with cultural, social and gender dynamics within communities.
- Partnerships & Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with delivery partners including schools, Curve, Philharmonia Orchestra, Primary Schools, Libraries, Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre and Highfields Centre.
- Coordinate logistics for sessions, workshops and performances.
- Support communication between artists, participants and key partners.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Support data collection including attendance, demographics and feedback.
- Contribute to evaluation processes, adhering to Youth Music and Arts Council England evaluation guidelines.
- Assist with reporting to funders and partners, including Youth Music.
Experience
- Delivering community arts, youth or participation programmes.
- Strong understanding of community engagement practice, particularly with diverse or underserved communities.
- Experience working with children and young people (aged between 9 to 16).
- Knowledge of safeguarding and pastoral care approaches.
- Excellent organisational and coordination skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with artists, partners and stakeholders.
- Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and access.
- Experience working in music, youth arts or creative learning contexts.
- Understanding of South Asian or Global Ethnic Majority communities.
- Experience supporting co-creation or participatory practice.
- Knowledge of Arts Award or youth progression pathways.
- Experience supporting evaluation and reporting for funded programmes.
