Key Responsibilities

  • Attach Loads: Secure lifting equipment (chains, slings, shackles, etc.) to loads before they are lifted by cranes or other machinery.
  • Signal Crane Operators: Use hand signals, radios, or other communication methods to guide crane operators during lifting and positioning of loads.
  • Ensure Load Safety: Check that the load is balanced, stable, and safely attached before signalling for a lift.
  • Maintain Clear Zones: Make sure lifting areas are clear of people and obstructions.
  • Assist with Positioning: Guide the load safely into position using tag lines or direct signalling.
  • Inspect Equipment: Check lifting accessories for damage or wear and report any defects.
  • Follow Safety Procedures: Ensure all lifting operations comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and manage risks in lifting operations.
