Key Responsibilities
- Attach Loads: Secure lifting equipment (chains, slings, shackles, etc.) to loads before they are lifted by cranes or other machinery.
- Signal Crane Operators: Use hand signals, radios, or other communication methods to guide crane operators during lifting and positioning of loads.
- Ensure Load Safety: Check that the load is balanced, stable, and safely attached before signalling for a lift.
- Maintain Clear Zones: Make sure lifting areas are clear of people and obstructions.
- Assist with Positioning: Guide the load safely into position using tag lines or direct signalling.
- Inspect Equipment: Check lifting accessories for damage or wear and report any defects.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Ensure all lifting operations comply with health and safety regulations.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and manage risks in lifting operations.
