Our client are a highly regarded accountancy practice based in Harrow, serving a diverse client base across London and the Home Counties. Their team of dedicated professionals provides a full range of accounting, tax, and advisory services to owner-managed businesses, high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, and trusts.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tax Senior to join their growing tax team. This is a broad and varied mixed tax role offering a genuine blend of compliance and advisory work across both personal and corporate tax. The successful candidate will manage their own portfolio of clients and will work closely with the Tax Manager and Directors to deliver high-quality tax advice and planning solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation and review of self-assessment tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, and high-net-worth clients
- Preparation and review of corporate tax returns (CT600) for a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SMEs
- Managing tax compliance deadlines and liaising with clients to gather information in a timely manner
- Dealing with HMRC correspondence, enquiries, and investigations
- Preparation of P11Ds and PAYE settlement agreements
- VAT return preparation and advisory for a mixed portfolio of clients
- Trust and estate tax compliance as required
- Providing personal tax planning advice including capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and residency/domicile matters
- Supporting corporate clients with tax planning, including remuneration planning, share schemes, and company restructuring
- Research and Development (R&D) tax relief claims and EIS/SEIS advisory
- Business tax planning for owner-managed businesses covering succession planning and exit strategies
- Assisting Partners and Directors with ad hoc advisory projects and technical research
- Identifying planning opportunities within the compliance portfolio and referring these to more senior team members
- Drafting client-facing advisory reports and technical memos
- ATT qualified and CTA qualified (or actively studying towards CTA)
- Minimum 3-5 years of tax experience gained within an accountancy practice
- Mixed tax background with experience across both personal and corporate tax
- Sound working knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC processes
- Experience managing your own client portfolio and meeting compliance deadlines
- Strong IT skills including tax compliance software (e.g. CCH, IRIS, TaxCalc, or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
