About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated Corporate Tax Assistant Manager to join their established tax team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to take the next step in their career, working with a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries while developing leadership and technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 80-120 corporate clients including SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and group companies
- Prepare and review corporation tax returns, computations, and supporting documentation
- Provide corporation tax compliance advice and manage statutory filing deadlines
- Handle correspondence with HMRC on behalf of clients including enquiries and disputes
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, reviewing their work and providing technical guidance
- Assist with ad-hoc tax advisory projects including capital allowances, loss relief planning, and group reorganisations
- Support business development activities and help maintain strong client relationships
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and firm quality procedures
- Stay updated with tax legislation changes and attend technical training sessions
- Assist managers with complex technical issues and project work
Essential Requirements
- ATT or CTA qualification (or studying towards) with strong technical knowledge
- Minimum 3-5 years\’ experience in UK corporation tax compliance
- Experience with tax software (Digita, Alpha Tax, or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience supervising junior staff or willingness to develop management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualification advantageous
Desirable Experience
- Multi-sector client experience across various industries
- Knowledge of group taxation and consolidation
- Experience with capital allowances and R&D tax credits
- Previous practice experience in medium to large firms
- Understanding of international tax basics
- VAT knowledge
