InSite are a leading design and engineering consultancy based in Pembroke Dock, West Wales. We deliver projects in the Oil & Gas, LNG, Nuclear and Renewables industries and our people are key to helping us deliver these projects from concept to completion.

We now have a permanent opportunity for a motivated and suitably qualified Principal C&I Engineer to join our team based in Pembroke Dock, in West Wales. A hybrid working pattern would be considered, but you would need to be in the office 2-3 days a week.

As a Principal C&I Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of Control and instrumentation systems with a strong focus on Functional Safety, PLC, SCADA, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient systems for complex industrial applications. This role will involve a combination of technical leadership, project management, and hands-on engineering.

  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation such as material specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, control philosophies, I/O lists, IS Calculations and loop diagrams.
  • Execute design and draughting activities through all project stages (concept, FEED, and detailed design).
  • Prepare and check drawings, including general arrangements, cable routes, block diagrams, loop sheets, and hook-ups.
  • Carry out site surveys and gap analysis.
  • Participate in technical review meetings, such as 3D model reviews, design reviews, HAZIDs, etc.

Project Management:

  • Lead multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and stakeholders to align project requirements and deliverables.
  • Conduct risk assessments and participate in HAZOP studies and LOPA analyses.

Testing & Commissioning:

  • Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and commissioning activities for C&I systems.
  • Troubleshoot and optimise system performance during the commissioning phase.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering (or equivalent). Proven track record of DeltaV configuration, programming, and commissioning. Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and other engineering documentation. Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
